John, a Vietnam veteran, struggled with homelessness for over a decade. Through the Be-Friending Program, he was paired with a local volunteer who helped him access veteran services, medical care, and, eventually, permanent housing. Today, John is living independently and volunteers with Homeless Action Sonoma, helping others who are experiencing what he once did.
